Newsletter Autumn 2008
Note from the Heart
The winds of change are in the air. We don’t have to look hard to see them; we can feel it all around us. All of nature is scurrying to gather the sweet summer harvest before winter. We bid a fond farewell to our victory gardens as we turn over the soil for rest and rejuvenation. Similarly, we turn over the quilts on our beds for the same winter’s rest. Even our sun drenched skin longs for a covering on these cooler mornings. Like the aging of our parents and the maturing of our children, we are taken back by the changes we see. Not that we expect the growing process to halt, we just know that past days cannot be relived. Too quickly we replace baby blankets with wedding quilts. When did they grow older and how on earth did I end up with a doctor younger then me? Change can be a difficult time for some of us, while others stand on the edge of a cliff with arms open wide, ready to embrace the new season of life. Ready or not, the times are changing. The new styles reflect the infusion of different foods, cultures and of times gone by. We are impressed upon to recycle, reuse, and rethink how we use our resources. Even with the up and coming election we can anticipate that change is in the air. When you feel buffeted by these winds of change, grab your quilt and hang onto the unchangeable truths in your life. The love of your family, the joy of your friends, and the peace of God.
